On the battlefield, Berkut behaves aggressively, arrogantly and power hungry, he is completely different person in both of those realms. However everything falls apart once Berkut enters his quarrels with Alm.

There we see how the two met on the ball, where Berkut tried to overcome RineaвЂ™s shyness, showing that he really can be kind person, and that their love is a true one. We can also see his soft side when seeing his memory prism with Rinea. The fact that he is also a military leader and he convinced Fernand immediately to join his forces, also shows that he is very charismatic. Berkut redeems himself in the last moments of his life, and gives Alm a memorial ring of his mother, as a thank you for opening his eyes, and as now the memorial of Berkut himself.Д«erkut is at the first sight a very proud and elegant individual. However he loses to Alm once again, breaking the curse of Duma on him. Wanting power to destroy Alm once and for all, he gained dark powers from Duma himself, by the cost of his sanity and his beloved RineaвЂ™s life. RudolfвЂ™s defeat and AlmвЂ™s true legacy were the last elements of BerkutвЂ™s path to madness. After this battle, Berkut didnвЂ™t receive any more chances from Rudolf to confront Alm once again, shortly after that, Alm killed Rudolf and was revealed to be RudolfвЂ™s only son and the true heir to RigelвЂ™s throne. Unfortunately for him, the horrifying spell was sealed by MilaвЂ™s power from AlmвЂ™s pendant, which made Berkut retreat from the battlefield once again. Even if Berkut despises dark magic, he ultimately uses the mirror during the fight with Alm, scared of another lost battle to the leader of Deliverance.

He was supposed to break the mirror to call upon a power of Duma, if he desired that. Before the battle however, he was granted a magic mirror by Nuibaba. Nevertheless, he was ashamed and enraged by his failure, so he wanted to fight with Alm again, but now with much bigger army. maybe he was already thinking about Alm being something more than a mere peasant, but his pride didnвЂ™t allow him to believe it. Not only Alm defeated him, but Berkut also noticed the boyвЂ™s brand, which was suspicious to say at least. However nothing has gone as rigelian prince wanted. Berkut wants to show Alm where is his place, by proudly going into the battle, being sure that heвЂ™s going to defeat Alm and send him back where he went. Their first encounter happens in chapter 3. While Berkut believes in superiority of nobility, Alm is a living example of commoner being as strong as many talented knights. Not only their social status is different, Berkut being an heir to the throne and Alm being a regular farm boy, but also in their beliefs. Berkut serves as a polar opposite to AlmвЂ™s character. The former knight of Zofia gets convinced to join Rigelian forces, because he sees in Berkut the same ideals as his, the superiority of their noble status over the commoners. We meet Berkut for the first time after Fernand is captured by Rigelian soldiers.
